High Country Landscape Design | Carrollton, TX

This backyard design in High Country transforms a traditional suburban backyard into a warm, rustic retreat built for gathering with family and friends. Natural cedar timbers, handcrafted details, and layered outdoor living spaces create an inviting atmosphere that feels like a Texas Hill Country getaway.

In an established Carrollton neighborhood near Branch Hollow Park, Josey Lane, Furneaux Lane, the Dallas North Tollway, and President George Bush Turnpike, mature trees and private backyards are part of the appeal. This design keeps that established character while giving the homeowner a more useful, comfortable place for cooking, relaxing, and hosting.

The custom cedar pergola anchors the space while providing shade over a spacious deck created for outdoor dining, cooking, and relaxing. Its natural wood tones bring warmth to the backyard and help the structure feel settled beneath the mature shade canopy.

A rustic outdoor kitchen, complete with cedar cabinetry and a built-in grill, makes entertaining effortless. The serving counter and cooking area create a natural hub for guests, while string lighting, ceiling fans, and architectural lighting extend the enjoyment long after sunset.

A separate hot tub deck provides a private place to unwind, while the gravel fire pit gathering area offers a casual destination for conversation under the mature trees. These connected spaces allow the backyard to work for quiet evenings, family weekends, and larger gatherings.

Custom cedar privacy screens help define each area and soften views, creating a backyard that feels intimate despite its neighborhood setting. The material choices feel relaxed and grounded, giving the project a handcrafted character that fits the quiet, neighborly pace of High Country.

The combination of natural cedar, warm lighting, mature shade trees, and thoughtfully connected gathering spaces delivers a backyard that is equally suited for peaceful nights or hosting friends throughout the year.
